Christina Remek, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Remek has extensive experience working with individuals with neurodiversity such as those with attention-deficit disorders and autism spectrum disorders. Some practitioners only work with these disorders in children, but she is quite adept at working with these individuals into adulthood and has worked directly with many of them throughout her clinical career. Furthermore, she not only employs empirically evidence-based techniques but also utilizes biofeedback to treat challenging symptoms present in such individuals. For instance, biofeedback/neurofeedback can be used to address anxiety, depressive symptoms, tics, seizures, emotional regulation, social recognition, and a variety of issues that may impair one’s overall health and functioning.

Dr. Remek conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations that thoroughly assess an individual's cognitive, academic, social, and behavioral functioning. She ensures that a clear diagnostic profile is provided, along with an outline of the client's strengths and challenges, helping them receive the appropriate support to reach their fullest potential. Her evaluations cover a range of issues, including competency, traumatic brain injury, memory problems, giftedness, and learning disorders. Additionally, Dr. Remek is trained in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorders.

In her practice, Dr. Remek offers psychotherapeutic services for individuals, utilizing an integrative approach that incorporates Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques. She employs social skills training, play techniques, and parent coaching to support children and their caregivers. Her methods also include mindfulness-based strategies, while employing insight-oriented techniques to address anxiety, depression, and relationship issues across the lifespan. Furthermore, parent coaching can be an essential therapeutic training designed to equip parents with the skills, strategies, and knowledge needed to effectively manage and support their child's behavior, emotional development, and mental health. The purpose of this therapy is to empower parents to become active participants in their child's treatment and to create a more positive and structured home environment that promotes healthy development.

Dr. Remek has a particular interest in advancing her work in maternal mental health to assist women and mothers dealing with various mental health challenges. Treatment is tailored to each individual, and her approach may vary based on the person and the presenting issues. Ultimately, she promotes a holistic method of treating the mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Remek is known for her compassionate, strength-based approach, helping clients achieve a more balanced state and improve their overall well-being.
