Evaluation Process

Evaluations for Children & Adolescents

We are committed to understanding the unique abilities of each child. Our approach emphasizes harnessing their strengths to enhance their educational journey. Whether your child requires extra support in school or guidance on activities that promote their growth, we develop personalized assessment plans that provide a holistic view of their functioning and valuable insights.

Unlike standard school testing or pediatric evaluations, which may only offer a limited perspective—often leading to recommendations for medication—we go beyond simple labels. Our comprehensive evaluations aim to uncover the underlying factors influencing your child’s performance. We help identify specific skills and characteristics that may affect their learning, enabling you to better understand their needs and determine the most effective ways to support them.

Our goal is to provide you with the clarity and understanding necessary to make informed decisions about your child’s well-being, ensuring that any recommendations for support are genuinely beneficial and tailored to their individual journey.

Evaluations for Adults

Initial Interview: We start with a structured clinical interview with one of our licensed clinical psychologists and the parent/child or the adult being tested to gather developmental, psychiatric, medical, family, educational, and social history. (Estimated time: Approximately 1 hour)

Testing: The assigned psychologist will select appropriate tests to address the presenting issues. After they create a comprehensive battery tailored to your needs, you are scheduled your testing appointments. (Estimated time: Approximately 2-3 hours per testing appointment, on average two dates of testing are required. These dates will be scheduled ASAP based on your availability and the assigned clinician’s availability)

Analysis: We score, analyze, and interpret each assessment. (Estimated time: Approximately within 1 week after testing; this is also dependent on how quickly we receive all data - including any additional forms sent to the client/other rater(s) that need to be completed)

Writing: The doctor will compile all the data, background information, behavioral observations, etc. and use this to complete your comprehensive evaluation. (Estimated time: Approximately 1-2 weeks after all data is received and interpreted)

Feedback: We schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss results and provide recommendations, including educational strategies, accommodations, and referrals to specialists if needed. (Estimated time: Your feedback session will be scheduled after your evaluation is fully completed and all insurance claims have processed. This can take an additional 2-4 weeks depending on your insurance (if applicable). The feedback session itself is approximately 1 hour)

Evaluation Procedure

Adults also benefit from our evaluations for a variety of reasons, including identifying psychological, attentional, or cognitive issues. Our neuropsychological evaluations can highlight age-related concerns such as memory issues and dementia, or issues stemming from traumatic brain injuries (TBI).Additionally, neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders, often diagnosed in childhood, can sometimes be missed and discovered in adulthood. Even when experiencing cogntive challenges, some of this may be due to other underylying issues than can include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and personality issues. Our comprehensive evals are aimed at helping you to determine the cause of the problems you are experiencing and help you to get the appropriate treatment needed to treat those issues.
